David McPherson
Communications Director
David McPherson is a Waterloo author, freelance writer, and communications consultant. Ever since attending his first rock concert in 1989 (The Who) and buying his first LP (Freeze Frame by The J. Geils Band), music has become “the elixir of his life.” A vinyl junkie and a member of the Polaris Music Prize Jury, it’s a joy for David discovering new music and sharing these discoveries with others. David's first book, The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern: A Complete History, published in 2017, chronicled the history of this Toronto institution. Since then, he has published three more books: Massey Hall (2021), 101 Fascinating Canadian Music Facts (2023) and 101 Fascinating Golf Facts (2025). David's music writing has been published in Grammy.com, No Depression, the Toronto Star, Words & Music and Acoustic Guitar. As president and chief creative officer of McPherson Communications, David helps clients get the words right. Clients, past and present, include: the Ontario Hockey Association, Osler Bluff Ski Club, the University of Waterloo, and Westmount Golf & Country Club.
